When we were Young

So... when I first heard about this contest, I knew I wanted to enter, I knew that what makes fall special for me (like so many others), is Halloween. First I started thinking, "well... I love to carve pumpkins, maybe that's what I'll do."

But then I thought about it a little more- why do I love to carve pumpkins? Why do I love Halloween so much?

And then, it hit me.
Back when I was in Grade School, my family would always have a really big Halloween party for my brother and I, and all of our friends. It was always really special because everyone was there and we all had an amazing time- every year. We would carve pumpkins, my dad would make a punch with dry ice called "witch's brew" that would bubble and boil over, we'd go on scavenger hunts, and play games. My mom would make "graveyard brownies" and everyone loved them. She would also always make my brother's and my costume entirely from scratch (he's Mario, I'm a bat) and I was always really proud that she did that for us- it made me feel really loved and special.

And that's why I love fall so much! I hope to one day pass on the tradition to my children, because it's something I treasure so much!

Building a diorama was quite the challenge for me. Working in 3D has always been a challenge for me, so it was a fun switch up in the way I think. I digitally painted the figures and the window scene, and fabricated everything else, except a few stickers.
