Shattered

Ok, so when I offered to do prizes for 's Paper Stars contest, I was like, "naw, I won't enter." But PB said I could, and I went and listened to the songs and then just HAD to! I just couldn't resist!

So I really wanted to draw Saul... unfortunately, I don't think he came out as successfully as I wanted, but I'm happy with him. He just isn't as hunky as when PB draws him

This image is inspired by Trading Yesterday's "Shattered" ~ the second I heard the song, all I could think of was it telling the story of Sara, and furthermore Sara and Saul's relationship some time after Benjamin's been gone. I imagined Sara would break down, every now and then letting everything get to her, and poor Saul not quite knowing how to handle it. I really wanted to display the emotions of Sara struck with the grief of losing Benji, and Saul left with the feeling of "would you she him over me if he were still here?" That's why Sara and Saul are darkly colored (a sense of grief and distress). Furthermore, I placed Sara outside the picture frame to show her distance physically, mentally, and emotionally from Saul. And I threw some symbols in for fun (well, not all just fun )

Ok! That's enough of my ranting and raving. What's most important, is that you enjoy it and can feel what I was aiming for with this image! Thanks for looking!
