OC Pageant Round 2- January

So January was probably going for something nice and conservative like in Regency Period (1800s) Western Cultures when Rueben jumped in and knocked the time machine all out of whack sending her to the Mughal Empire, India 16th century. A far cry from the muted colors and conservative silhouettes she's used to... but this is all about getting out of her comfort zone, so she sucked it up, and took in the culture with Rueben, which actually turned out to be a lot of fun.

It's most likely that January would be revered as some kind of incarnation of Aranyani, a goddess of the forest and animals within it, what with her antlers and Rueben at her side (to my knowledge she was still being worshipped at this time). She's received the flower garlands and lotus flowers as part of Pooja (worship) and is sharing some Kulfi (an ice cream like dessert of saffron and pistachio in this case) while they relax. Despite the midriff style of her garments (she's wearing a puthia and churidas--- I hope those are the correct terms for her top and pants?), she's actually really comfortable and can handle all the ornamentation because Rueben's putting up with it too. And she thinks he looks adorable like that. 

My research and references came in the form of mostly artwork from the period, so I hope I'm acceptably accurate? I wanted to research a new era/ region of clothing, so that's the real reason poor January got stuck in India ;3 But she really did need a change of pace, so I'll blame Rueben. 

If I got anything wrong- terminology, lore, etc please feel free to let me know! It was all very confusing for me trying to put words to what I saw in the artwork from the period, so I'd be more than happy to correct my mistakes!
